Qatar is one of the contenders to host the 2022 version of the event and though that does sound a long time away the architects have already turned in their concepts for the stadiums.

'Wenlock' and 'Mandeville' were created from the last two drops of british steel used for the london 2012 Olympic Stadium: 'that’s why we’re so shiny, reflecting the people, places and things we meet along the way as we travel around the UK', designed by iris.

The House of Stone, made out of recycled stones,is designed by John Pawson. The word 'minimum' is translated here, not into poverty, but into premium components such as space, light and materials.

Fuori Salone in Milano, in 1 word, would be ecology and everything that goes with it. There were so many different ways to express the eco-frlendliness of a product. 'Get closer to nature and save the planet.'

Shanghai preparing for Expo starting in May

The theme of the Expo is "Better City, Better Life", and is scheduled to run from May 1st until October 31, 2010. In recent months, large construction and renovation projects have dominated much of Shanghai, in preparation for becoming the World's stage on May 1st.

12th Venice Biennale of Architecture

The 12th Venice Biennale of Architecture  will be open to the public from 29th August to 21st November 2010. This year’s Biennale is under the directorship of Kasuyo Sejima of SANAA, a leading exponent of contemporary architecture. Describing the rationale for her choice of theme, Sejima commented: `The idea is to help people relate to architecture, help architecture relate to people and help people relate to themselves.’

Watch exhibition - Basel, Switzerland

The yearly Watch and Jewelry exhibition took place in Basel, Switzerland from 18 - 25 March 2010. 

There were some remarkable trends such as:

- premium brands not always using leather straps but instead using high quality rubber 

- black mat is still a popular colour/finishing (fig.2)

- the use of white ceramic for a watch seemed a brand new approach(fig.3)

- simple designs in one colour with an accentuated primary colour. (fig.4)

The exhibition in 2011 will take place from 24 - 30 March.
