Expo Shanghai 2010,” it will last 184 days and provide China an opportunity to show off its remarkable economic growth. Here are some pavilions already shown.
The Spanish Pavilion: led by the design team Catalan EMBT Miralles-Tagliabue will be one of the biggest pavilions during next year’s World Expo. The design was inspired by wicker baskets, a handicraft deeply rooted in both Spain and China. The frontage of the pavilion will be covered by wicker while the rest of the building will be made from sustainable materials like bamboo and semi-transparent paper laid out on an intricate panel system.
The French Pavilion: will present, “France’s contribution in the sustainable urban development for one of the biggest economic metropolises in the planet.” The pavilion will be built using the most advanced materials and environmental protection technology; serving as a model of energy efficiency and recycling techniques.
The Singapore Pavilion: called Urban Symphony, resembles a music box through the water fountain movements, sunshade fins on the façade, and interplay of sounds and visuals. The entire three-story pavilion will be supported by four columns with different shapes and sizes, representing Singapore’s multi-racial society that all share a common goal.
